In the Spring of 2014, our family spent three months living in a Palestinian neighborhood in Jerusalem. It was a life-changing experience for us, falling in love with the land and the people as God opened our hearts to our Jewish, Muslim, and Christian neighbors, as well as new friends from many different nations and cultures. During this time we wrote the song “O Jerusalem”, based on Psalm 122: “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem”, as a prayer for peace for all the people that call this holy city home.
Many of the songs on this album were written around this time, and are based on scriptures from the books of Psalms and Isaiah. At a time when it seems there is no solution to the conflict in the Middle East, these sacred songs, poems, and prophecies offer a vision of hope that still rings true thousands of years after they were written. Israelis, Palestinians, and all the people of Middle East need our prayers now more than ever. We truly believe prayer and worship has the power to change things that nothing else can.
This isn’t about politics — it’s about people. Our hearts are for all the people, on every side, who are hurting, who are suffering, who need hope. We hope these songs will inspire you to pray for peace, no matter where you come from or what you believe, and we pray it will comfort all whose hearts are aching in the midst of war, whether you are in Israel, Gaza, or in your homes around the globe.
